# Move from Missive to Rinhelp

Missive’s in-app export gives your conversations, comments and responses as zip files, and its API on the Productive plan fills the gaps. Trashed conversations are never exported, and you can run each export type only once a day.

| Conversations | Time to read them |
| --- | --- |
| 1,000 | about 34 minutes |
| 10,000 | about 6 hours |

Limit used: 60 requests a minute (Productive plan API: 900 per 15 minutes on a long run, bursts up to 300 a minute), about 2 per conversation. Rinhelp takes up to 3,000 conversations a minute. Importing is free: it never emails your customers, never runs Rin and never counts toward a plan.

Run the export from Missive’s settings and download each zip within 7 days. API tokens need the Productive plan, and Missive’s MCP needs Productive or Business plus an organization admin to turn it on.

## Prompt for a chat app

Read https://rinhelp.com/migrate/missive.md, then unzip the Missive export I upload and bring its conversations, comments and responses into Rinhelp. If our admin has turned on Missive’s MCP, use it to search and read only, never to draft or send.

## Prompt for a coding agent

Follow https://rinhelp.com/migrate/missive.md to copy my full Missive history with the API token I give you. Walk every mailbox and label, since each list call needs a mailbox filter, read messages and comments 10 at a time, and stay under 900 requests per 15 minutes with at most 5 at once.

## Facts

- Anyone in Missive can export everything they can open from settings, with conversations as JSON and comments, contacts and responses as separate zip exports. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/administration/security/exporting-your-data (checked 2026-10-31)
- Missive allows one export per type per day, and the download link lasts 7 days. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/administration/security/exporting-your-data (checked 2026-10-31)
- Conversations in Missive’s trash are never included in the export. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/administration/security/exporting-your-data (checked 2026-10-31)
- Only organizations on Missive’s Productive plan can generate API tokens. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/developers/rest-api (checked 2026-10-31)
- Missive’s API allows 300 requests a minute but only 900 every 15 minutes and 5 at once, so a long run averages about 1 request a second. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/developers/rest-api/rate-limits.md (checked 2026-10-31)
- Every Missive conversation list call needs at least one mailbox filter, and returns at most 50 conversations. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/developers/rest-api/endpoints (checked 2026-10-31)
- Missive returns messages and comments at most 10 per call, so long threads take many calls. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/developers/rest-api/endpoints (checked 2026-10-31)
- Missive lists responses, its saved replies, over the API, with attachments inside each message, comment and response. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/developers/rest-api/endpoints (checked 2026-10-31)
- Missive’s official MCP stays off until an organization admin turns it on, and it can draft and send replies as well as search. Vendor page: https://missiveapp.com/docs/ai/mcp/server (checked 2026-10-31)

## Questions

### Do I need Missive’s Productive plan to leave?

No. Anyone can run Missive’s in-app export and upload the zip to Claude or ChatGPT. You need Productive only for API tokens, which suit a long history.

### Why are some Missive conversations not in my export?

Missive never exports conversations in the trash, and each person exports only what they can open. Restore anything you want to keep before you export.

### Do Missive comments come across?

Yes. They’re in the export and the API, and Rinhelp keeps each comment as a note on its conversation, out of the customer’s sight.
