Move from Freshchat to Rinhelp
By Wilbert Liu, founder of Rinhelp · Facts checked · Markdown for AI agents
Freshchat conversations and their messages move through its API, which only the Pro and Enterprise plans include. There is no single list of conversations, so the AI agent reaches them customer by customer.
| Conversations | Time to read them from Freshchat |
|---|---|
| 1,000 | about 2 minutes |
| 10,000 | about 15 minutes |
Limit used: 2,000 requests a minute (Pro and Enterprise plans, per account), about 3 per conversation. Rinhelp takes up to 3,000 conversations a minute.
Free. Importing never emails your customers, never runs Rin and never counts toward a plan.
Needs a person. You need Freshchat on Pro or Enterprise, because Freshworks lists no API for Free and Growth, and you give the AI agent an API key. Freshchat’s API reference shows no call for canned responses, so you paste those yourself.
Paste one prompt
Connect your AI agent to Rinhelp first, then paste the prompt for the app you use. It reads this page’s Markdown and follows Rinhelp’s steps.
Freshchat has no official MCP, so I’ll upload a file of my conversations and paste my canned responses here. Read https://rinhelp.com/migrate/freshchat.md, add the canned responses to Rinhelp as saved replies, and bring in the conversations from my file.
Move my Freshchat history to Rinhelp by following https://rinhelp.com/migrate/freshchat.md. Authenticate with the Freshchat API key I give you, list users, then each user’s conversations, then their messages 50 at a time. Keep under the 2,000 calls a minute my account allows and retry later when Freshchat says the limit is hit.

Freshchat facts that shape the move
Freshchat’s chat and conversation API allows 2,000 calls a minute per account on Pro and Enterprise, and Free and Growth show no API at all. Source, checked .
That limit counts every chat and conversation call on the account, and going over it returns an error asking you to retry later. Source, checked .
The older Freshchat Classic follows different rules from those limits. Source, checked .
Freshchat has no call that lists every conversation: you list users, then each user’s conversations, then each conversation’s messages. Source, checked .
Freshchat returns messages up to 50 at a time, so a long conversation needs more than one call. Source, checked .
The Chat-Transcript raw report covers only 24 hours per request and can start at most 15 months back. Source, checked .
A report’s download link expires after one hour, so each file has to be saved as soon as it’s ready. Source, checked .
Freshchat report files are CSV only and can take up to an hour to be made. Source, checked .
The report extract call processes only one request a minute, so 15 months of 24-hour slices is slow. Source, checked .
Questions
Can I move off Freshchat on the Growth plan?
Freshworks lists an API only for Pro and Enterprise, not for Free or Growth. On Growth you move up a plan before the AI agent can read your history.
Why not just use the Chat-Transcript report?
Each report covers 24 hours, reaches back 15 months at most, arrives as CSV up to an hour later, and the extract call takes one request a minute. For a long history the conversation API is the practical route.
How fast can Freshchat conversations come across?
About 660 a minute at most: Freshchat allows 2,000 calls a minute per account and each conversation takes about three. Other apps calling Freshchat’s API on your account use up the same limit.
